One of the features on this site that draws a lot of compliments is the slideshow at the top of the page. Displaying photos in the header space is not an original idea, and is being used elsewhere with great effect. Like some of those other sites, we use photography because it is a great way to showcase the varied character of in Uganda's places and its people. Many talented photographers, both foreign and domestic, capture evidence of this character everyday. By contributing to our slideshow, they can show off their work to our readers.
If you have a photo or photos that you'd like to be considered for use as a header photo just upload it to Flickr, Picasa, or some other photo sharing site and send us an email to editor [at] citizenuganda [dotcom] with a link to your photo(s) as well as a short 10 word or so description, your name and a link to your web site (if you have one). The image must be at least 870x150 pixels with 72dpi resolution. If we use your photo we'll include all this info under the picture details tab in the lower right hand corner of the header area.
We don't include every photo submission we receive. We only accept photos that have some relevance to Uganda, are good quality (not blurry, poorly cropped etc.) and are of an image that we don't already have in the slideshow. We also try as much as we can to stay away from images with lions, elephants, crocodiles and starving children. Much preferred are documentary or street-style photographs.
If we post one of your photos, we will send an email letting you know. Thanks in advance for your submissions.
